On the afternoon of October 17th, 15 students from the international college took part in "walking into Suzhou silk museum" the third of the series of activities "reading intangible cultural heritage -- cultural journey" held by the library.

Suzhou silk museum is the first professional silk museum in China, covering an area of 9,500 square meters with 4,000 square meters of exhibition space. There are six exhibition areas: history museum, modern museum, children science museum, mulberry garden and silk weaving machinery exhibition room, Qian Xiaoping silk culture art museum. The overall color of the pavilion is mainly white, reflecting the natural color of silk. In the gate square, there is also an east-west passage symbolizing the silk road. Guided and introduced by the silk museum, the students learned about the early silk civilization and rich silk culture through exquisite silk cultural relics display, dynamic mulberry planting and sericulture display, traditional loom operation performance, and the application of modern silk weaving technology in daily life.

As an important part of the Chinese civilization, silk was gradually spread to Asia, Europe and Africa through the "silk road" as early as the 4th and 5th centuries BC, making remarkable contributions to world civilization. Students from South Africa, Pakistan, Laos and other "neighborhood" members said that this activity deepened their understanding of the one-thousand-year history of silk spread and Suzhou silk culture. In the future, they hope to spread the bright flowery silk culture and Chinese civilization.
